SUNLIGHT
Intro
Keep breathing in.
Keep breathing in.
Keep breathing in.
Keep breathing in.

Verse I
Darling, I felt the air change today,
I see that you've been crying.
Spoke with the stars and they held your hand,
They told you I was dying.

Buried in stone and the underground,
Our love will know no measure.
And the poets are jealous of the love we had,
To love you has been my pleasure.
Chorus
I want to run to my mother,
and show her the work that I've done.
And she'll say that I've gotten taller,
And flour coats the scene.
Verse II
Darling, it was in the sun today,
They cried it from the rafters,
Nothing to do but hold your hand,
And paint the walls with laughter.

Buried in stone and the underground,
Our love will know no measure.
And the poets are jealous of the love we had,
To love you has been my pleasure.

Chorus
Keep breathing in.
Keep breathing in.
Keep breathing in.
Keep breathing in.

I want to run to my mother,
and show her the work that she's missed.
And she'll say that I've gotten taller,
And flour coats the scene.

In memory of a dear relative of mine that passed away, this song hopefully captures the immense warmth of love that can be felt in grief.
This song is written as a conversation between a loving couple preparing for a very difficult inevitability.
My relative would spend a lot of time talking to me about poetry and art and challenging me. In particular, we shared a love for Seamus Heaney, and many references to some of my favorite poems are made within the lyrics and indeed the song title.
